Brig Praveen Kumar is graduate in Civil Engineering from Government Engineering College Jabalpur, he did his M Tech from IIT Delhi in Building Science and Construction Management.

He was Commissioned in 1988 in Corps of Engineers of Indian Army and has served in almost all terrain including Siachen Glaciers.
